Recovery after a stroke depends on regular, focused practice. Ashok Healthcare's physiotherapists provide stroke and neuro rehabilitation at home in Bangalore, helping patients work on walking, balance, arm use and daily tasks in the place where they need those skills most.
Stroke rehabilitation at home is a programme of therapy delivered at the patient's home to help them regain movement, balance and independence after a stroke. A physiotherapist works on strength, walking, balance and arm and hand function through repeated, goal-directed practice, and teaches the family how to help safely between sessions.
A stroke can affect movement on one side of the body (hemiplegia), balance, sensation, speech, swallowing and memory. Recovery is different for every person. Many people make the most noticeable progress in the first months after a stroke, but improvement can continue for much longer with continued practice.
Home rehabilitation lets the patient practise exactly what they need: getting out of their own bed, walking to their own bathroom, climbing the stairs at home. Our physiotherapists also apply the same approach to other neurological conditions, such as Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, Guillain-Barré syndrome and recovery after brain surgery.
Speech, language and swallowing difficulties should be assessed by a qualified speech-language pathologist, and occupational therapy can help with daily living skills. Our physiotherapists will advise when these specialists are needed.
| Condition | Typical focus of home rehabilitation |
|---|---|
| Stroke (hemiplegia) | Walking, balance, arm function, daily tasks |
| Parkinson's disease | Walking rhythm, balance, turning, getting up from a chair |
| Spinal cord injury | Transfers, wheelchair skills, strength in working muscles |
| Guillain-Barré syndrome | Gradual strength and endurance building |
| After brain surgery or head injury | Balance, coordination and safe mobility |
